The NFL is back, and so is Aaron Rodgers.
\nThe Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is back for one more – and last – season in the league. He may get a little bit of an earlier debut than recent years, too.
\nMike McCarthy said the team has had discussions as to whether the former Packers QB would play in the first preseason game of the Steelers' season, with the quarterback supposedly telling his head coach that he was willing to play in preseason games.
\nHe wasn't as public with his desire to play in preseason recently.
\n"It's the preseason, it's not real football," Rodgers told reporters this week. "If I do, great. If not, great."
\nEven if Rodgers doesn't play, it'll be worth watching how the rest of the signal-callers in Pittsburgh's arsenal are deployed. With Drew Allar, Will Howard and Mason Rudolph all jockeying for position on the Steelers' depth chart, quarterback now – and for the future – will be a sticking point for Pittsburgh.
\nOn the other sideline, the Packers will look to play their starters, including quarterback Jordan Love, during their preseason opener.
