This week the Pittsburgh Steelers are planning to get to work and follow up a big preseason win with back-to-back padded practices in preparation for the next game, if the weather allows. As is often the case with training camp at Saint Vincent, rain is the great equalizer and often forces the team indoors and out of pads at the worst times.

New Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy has made significant changes to how the team does business at training camp. This includes no live tackling at practice and his practices have been called uneventful by players. But McCarthy's been making data, analytics, and attention to detail the focus.

But whatever McCarthy is doing seems to be working. The offense, in particular the passing offense, in Thursday's preseason game looked explosive and efficient no matter who was on the field. Pittsburgh will next take on the New York Jets on Friday, August 21, in their Week Two preseason showdown.
