Sanctioned under Rashtriya Uchchatar Siksha Abhiyan (RUSA), the lab will be primarily used for recording NPTEL courses, online diploma degrees, and web-based structural lectures, besides creating podcasts.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tata Narasinga Rao formally inaugurated the facility in the presence of Registrar Prof. M. Bhupathi Naidu and RUSA coordinators. The facility has a virtual production studio, AR-VR studio, podcast studio with high-bandwidth video conferencing, lecture capture systems and acoustic treatment designed to stream and record the engineering lectures live.
Prof. Narasinga Rao also visited the Centre of Excellence in Bioenergy Innovations on the campus to watch a demonstration on the newly-installed BET Surface Area Analyser. The instrument enables precise analysis of the specific surface area, pore volume, and pore-size distribution of materials and has wide applications in bioenergy, nanotechnology, material science etc.

Meanwhile, SVU has received certification covering educational services, energy management, environmental management and gender sensitisation, along with accreditation for its virology labs.HYM International Certifications has issued ISO 21001:2018 certificate (educational services), ISO 50001:2018 (energy saving practices) and ISO 14001:2015 (greenery and environment protection). A gender sensitisation audit certificate covering facilities for women relating to safety, security, counselling and common rooms has also been received by the university.
Similarly, the university’s Virology Laboratories received ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation from Global Accreditation Services (GAS) for microbiological and biological testing activities of soil, water, food and environmental samples.
