Former South Carolina football safety DQ Smith has entered the transfer portal, Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reported on Aug. 23.

Smith got a fifth year of eligibility from a Louisiana court order Aug. 19 that included more than 30 athletes.

The order gave players who were freshmen in the 2022-23 academic season an extra year of eligibility. This included players who had signed NFL contracts. Smith received multiple NFL minicamp invitations, per media reports.
