Sophie Cunningham has sparked much debate following her comments about ‘biological men’ in women’s sport.

Speaking to ESPN earlier this year, she was quoted as saying, “I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I’m like, ‘I never once said that’. I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”

Those comments have seen the debate around transgender athletes span beyond just the WNBA, while two former NBA players have also recently now declared for the next WNBA draft.

Joe Rogan called Enes Kanter ‘very smart’ for his decision to declare for the draft this week, while Steven McBee Jr. has now shown his support for Cunningham after her comments on the situation.

Sophie Cunningham told ‘kudos to you for sticking to what you believe’ by Steven McBee Jr.

In a clip shared by Tomi Lahren is Fearless on X/Twitter, McBee revealed he has spoken to Cunningham since this issue started and shared what he said.

He said: “Just said hey, kudos to you for sticking to what you believe and not being scared to vocalise that and for continuing to go out there and just focus on basketball and sports, which is what I think all her and Caitlin really want to do.

“And they’re really bothered that this has become, you know, now every single thing they do is put under a microscope.”

While Cunningham is expected to continue making headlines over the coming weeks, she has also earned praise on the field from WNBA fans recently.

After Indiana Fever’s recent win over the New York Liberty, fans said things like ‘seriously is a warrior’ and she is ‘clutch in every aspect of the game’.
