At the start of the summer, we felt there was a good chance Tosin stayed at Chelsea.
The plain fact was there were so many defenders to move on, and probably room for 5 in the squad. So selling him or loaning him wouldn’t have been as high priority as finding a move for higher valued players (like Trevoh Chalobah) or youngsters who need minutes (like Mamadou Sarr).
But teams are always at the whim of the market, and in this case it looks like there’s simply more interest in Tosin than some of his teammates.

We had already heard reports about Benfica being interested in the former Fulham defender, and now Sky Sports have added Marseille to the list.
Because we signed him on a free, we don’t have to worry about any specific number in terms of a sale. We just want to bank as much as possible. With Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck now in the squad to take over his “leadership” role, we can now move on.
If either of the interested teams proposes a solid deal in the next few days, we expect Tosin to be gone pretty quickly.
That then creates the interesting question of who stays in his place to be the 5th centre back.
