The interview began like any other sideline interview, with Kinkhabwala asked Sanders to assess his play. Sanders said, “It felt great to be able to put on a show for the time I had out there.” And then it just kept going and going and going, for nearly eight minutes. Sanders had a lot to get off his chest.

“Right then, I was just talking to God,” Sanders said. “I was talking to God. I’m like, He knows what I’m about to go out here and do. I’m just a vessel. He’s just gonna shine through me. So throughout delays, throughout everything, we were still able to put on a show.”
After Kinkhabwala asked about Sanders’ quarterback competition with Watson, Sanders used it to lightly criticize fans for booing Watson. The actual game broke out into a brief scuffle while Sanders spoke about human decency and respect, which was hilarious contrast.
Afterward, Sanders gave a standout quote when Kinkhabwala asked whether he’s done enough to become QB1.
“I don’t think, in life, I don’t feel like I’ll ever be done enough,” Sanders said. “If I done enough in life, I’d be retired. But nah, I think I can improve in areas, and that’s what I’m striving for each and every single day. If I was a finished product, we wouldn’t be right here talking right now. I’d be on the field.”

“I improved every aspect of my life, I’d say,” Sanders told reporters in response to a question about his improvement this offseason. “I improved at least my relationship with God. You know, to be able to come up here every day and talk to everybody, regardless of opinions. […] What they say online and all this different type of stuff, even those that’s sitting in front of me today. I still approach y’all and greet y’all with kindness because God gave me that.
“God gave me the wisdom to be able to not be emotionally fazed by individuals and people because I’m here for a bigger purpose.”
