The police took Students’ Federation of India (SFI) Kannur district secretary Joel Thomas into custody on Friday (September 11, 2026) morning in connection with a case registered over the alleged violence during a protest in Thiruvananthapuram.
Published - September 11, 2026 07:53 pm ISTJoel was taken into custody by the Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment police from near Women’s College, Palikkunnu, Kannur.
The police have registered a case against 31 SFI leaders and activists, including charges such as attempt to murder and other non-bailable offences.
The police action took place while Joel was in Kannur for activities related to the college union election.
