Before the first quarter of Saturday’s preseason opener even ended, the Los Angeles Rams announced that rookie Keagen Trost suffered a hamstring injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. It was an unfortunate reminder of how brutal injuries can be this time of year, especially for a rookie just getting his feet wet. After practice on Monday, Sean McVay provided an update on Trost’s status, telling reporters that Trost will likely miss a few weeks while nursing his hamstring injury. Trost started the game at right tackle and was viewed as Warren McClendon Jr.’s backup at that spot. Mario Williams is in the same boat after injuring his hamstring in the opener, as well.

If he’s unable to go, the Rams may have to give someone like A.J. Arcuri an opportunity, giving them more depth at tackle behind Alaric Jackson, McClendon and David Quessenberry. Trost was the team’s third-round pick out of Missouri this year following a dominant performance for the Tigers in 2025. He was one of the best offensive tackles in college football last season, allowing just six total pressures, according to PFF.
