The worst case scenario for the Seattle Seahawks occurred on the first drive of the NFL Kickoff game Wednesday night when quarterback Sam Darnold , but it might not be as severe as originally expected.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Darnold underwent a CT scan on his hip that produced “encouraging but inconclusive” results. Seattle’s veteran signal caller will undergo an MRI on Thursday which should help provide a recovery timeline.

To further improve matters, head coach Mike Macdonald added in his postgame press conference Darnold avoided a fracture, likely season-altering news considering the average recovery ranges from six months to a year which would’ve put the defending champions in a difficult position moving forward.
