Roger Federer recently experienced a rollercoaster week in the financial world. Just days after seeing his estimated net worth fall below the $1 billion mark due to a stock market plunge, the sportswear brand he co-owns, On Holding, received the ultimate boost on the tennis court. And it’s thanks to two of the company’s biggest ambassadors, Iga Świątek and Ben Shelton, that the company secured championship victories in Canada.

Iga Świątek and Ben Shelton Give Roger Federer’s ‘On’ a Major Boost

Earlier in the week, On Holding faced a severe stock market setback as the Swiss sportswear brand’s shares plummeted 19% in a single day. This sudden drop had a direct impact on Federer, who owns a 2.5% stake in the company.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion suffered a paper loss of at least $52 million, bringing his Forbes estimated net worth down to $952 million. This significant financial hit temporarily removed Federer from the exclusive club of billionaire athletes.

Now, just three days later, Federer had the best possible turnaround on the courts of Canada. Two of On’s flagship athletes claimed Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 titles simultaneously during the Canadian Open.

In Toronto, Świątek won her first title of 2026 after a commanding 6-2, 6-3 finals performance against World No. 2 Elena Rybakina. Meanwhile, in Montreal, Shelton successfully defended his Canadian Open title with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) victory over fellow American Brandon Nakashima.

The brand took it to Instagram to celebrate their victories. In the final match, both of them wore the brand’s outfits.

In 2025, the brand had great success, partly due to the positive response to Federer’s own ‘The Roger’ shoe range, taking his net worth into the billionaire range last year. However, even after a loss of more than $50 million, Federer remains one of the wealthiest athletes on the planet, with endorsements and over $130 million in career prize money.

The former World No. 1 officially retired from the sport in 2022, at the Laver Cup, after playing a doubles match alongside his eternal rival and friend, Rafael Nadal, at the O2 Arena in London. Since then, he has been enjoying life away from court, spending time with his family.

Świątek and Shelton will now shift their focus to the Cincinnati Open, a key tournament before the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open in New York.
