Former San Francisco 49ers undrafted rookie punter Jack Bouwmeester found a new NFL home shortly after being released by the 49ers. Per the NFL transaction wire, Bouwmeester on Sunday signed with the Los Angeles Rams and will be on their roster as an international player exemption. That means Bouwmeester won't count toward the 90-player maximum on the Rams' offseason roster. The 49ers signed Bouwmeester out of the University of Texas, although throughout a tumultuous college career the 27-year-old Australian spent time at Michigan State and Utah before landing with the Longhorns. He spent three seasons at Michigan State without playing a game, and then left the school in 2021. He landed with Utah in 2022 and played for three seasons there before finishing out his college career at Texas. San Francisco brought in the rookie to compete with veteran Corliss Waitman for the 49ers' starting punter job. Bouwmeester was waived on Aug. 12 just one day before the 49ers' preseason opener vs. the Tennessee Titans. Veteran Ethan Evans is already on the Rams roster as their starting punter, but as an international player Bouwmeester will have a chance to stick around on LA's practice squad and eventually make his way onto the roster down the road.
