Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over fellow La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna in their penultimate pre-season friendly on Wednesday. BrahimDiaz’s goal in first half stoppage time was the decisive moment, which continued Jose Mourinho’s side’s unbeaten streak since his arrival (W3 D1).
As per MD, Brahim spoke to Real Madrid TV at Riazor to reflect on the match. He also spoke on his goal, as he gave lots of credit to the assist from Andriy Lunin.
“The match is still preparatory. We’re playing here, at Deportivo’s home, and it’s a game to keep feeding our legs and keep giving it a go. I’m very happy with the team’s work. It’s time to be ready for what’s coming, which is going to be a very beautiful and incredible year. Lunin has seen me well (for the goal). He gave it to me and I think the control with the chest gave me a lot of advantage to continue. I put the ball a little further forward and finished well. A good goal, but it’s all thanks to Lunin.
“I feel very good. Vini Jr., Bernardo and I arrived a week ago, and I’m feeling good. Little by little I’m much better and I’m super happy with the coach, with all the staff, and with my teammates. I think it’s going to be a very nice, good and exciting year. This is Real Madrid and we want to continue making history.”

Lunin also spoke to RMTV, and as per MD, he shared a similar view to Mourinho in that the match was a good barometer for their preparations for the new season.
“It was a very good game: good atmosphere, good stadium… All very nice. The most important thing is that these games help us to prepare for La Liga. Today the second half was a little more complicated, especially physically because we are still in pre-season and we work hard and hard. But this helps us a lot for the start of La Liga.
Lunin also spoke on the assist that he gave to Brahim for the only goal of the match.
“It has been a bit natural. In corners, if you catch the cross, you always try to take a quick throw-in. I didn’t know Brahim was so fast.”
