According to AS, Real Madrid are among the clubs closely following Racing Santander midfield starlet Sergio Martinez.

The 19-year-old Spanish prospect also happens to be on the radars of Barcelona and Villarreal.

All three clubs had already explored the possibility of signing him last season and remain interested. He is under contract until 2029.

A dream La Liga debut

Martinez is going to remember August 16 for a long time. A year ago, in 2025, he made his official first-team debut for Racing, playing a few minutes against Castellon.

On Sunday, exactly one year later, he made his La Liga debut, this time as a starter, and marked the occasion with a spectacular strike into the top corner against Villarreal.

Having been handed a starting role alongside Gustavo Puerta, the midfielder delivered an excellent performance.

He recovered well after a couple of dangerous turnovers early on and then produced a thunderous shot that, according to L aLiga data, reached 126.7 km/h.

In the process, Martinez became the youngest player to score for Racing on his La Liga debut in the 21st century, at 19 years and 93 days old.

Barça, Madrid and Villarreal Already Tried to Sign Him

Martinez’s breakthrough has only increased the attention around him.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Villarreal had already approached Racing and the player last season, with offers to sign him during the winter transfer window.

However, the teenage midfielder chose to stay at Racing, believing he had a better chance of remaining around the first team.

He also rejected an approach from Mirandes, who believed he was ready to play an important role in Segunda Division.

Now, those same clubs continue to monitor the youngster. Racing renewed his contract last November, tying him to the club until June 30, 2029.

But there is one particularly tempting detail for potential suitors: his release clause is just €3 million.

A right-footed creative midfielder, Martinez has only just stepped up from youth football, but he has already shown he can shine at the highest level.

And, Racing’s hierarchy knows that figure could become extremely attractive if Martinez continues performing at this level in La Liga.
