Real Madrid agree €10m La Fabrica sale as striker heads to Strasbourg

Real Madrid have generated a lot of money this summer from player sales, while funds have also been raised via the triggering of sell-on clauses. The club is not finished yet in this regard, and they agreed their latest departure in the last 24 hours.

Over the last few years, Real Madrid have targeted the sales of La Fabrica talents, with all deals including a sell-on clause and/or buy-back clause. This summer alone, they have moved on the likes of Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios, and the next player to leave will be Jacobo Ortega.

Despite having not come close to making his senior debut for Real Madrid, Ortega is a player that has attracted significant interest this summer. Elche tried to sign him, but he will instead be going to Strasbourg, with Diario AS reporting that a €10m has been agreed between the two clubs.

Real Madrid keep 30% of Ortega’s rights

Ortega’s sale will be a record for a Real Madrid player that has not made their first team debut. The 20-year-old performed very well for Castilla during the second half of last season, and that form has ultimately earned him a move to Strasbourg, where he will hope to follow the progression of someone like Joaquin Panichelli.

As well as bringing in €10m, Real Madrid have also retained a 30% sell-on clause, as they did for the double sale of Gonzalo and Palacios to Fulham earlier in the summer. This means they keep some control over his future, although they have decided against including a buy-back option, which would have made his possible return to the Bernabeu in the future much easier.

Real Madrid are sure to keep following Ortega’s progression at Strasbourg, and although they have no buy-back clause, it cannot be ruled out that he returns to the club in the coming years.
