Ravindra Jadeja stands on the brink of a landmark moment in Test cricket as India open their two-match series against Sri Lanka on August 15 at Galle. The left-arm spinning all-rounder requires just two more wickets to reach 350 in the format, a total that would place him among a very small group of cricketers in the history of the game.

Jadeja has appeared in 89 Tests, claiming 348 wickets at an average of 25.12. His haul includes 15 five-wicket innings returns and a best match performance of 10/154. With the bat, he has accumulated 4,095 Test runs, reinforcing his standing as one of the most complete all-rounders India has produced across any era.

What milestone would Jadeja reach with two wickets in Galle?

Reaching 350 Test wickets would make Jadeja only the second Indian cricketer to combine that tally with more than 4,000 runs in the format, a distinction currently held by Kapil Dev alone. He would simultaneously become the first Indian spinner to achieve that particular all-round double in Test cricket.

The broader context of this achievement was set in November 2025, when Jadeja completed 4,000 Test runs and entered an exclusive group of four players who had combined that batting landmark with more than 300 wickets. The others in that group are Kapil Dev, Ian Botham of England and Daniel Vettori of New Zealand. Kapil Dev, whose record Jadeja is now approaching, finished his Test career with 5,248 runs and 434 wickets across 131 matches.

How has Jadeja fared against Sri Lanka in Test cricket?

Jadeja's record against Sri Lanka in Tests gives him every reason for confidence heading into Galle. Across seven Tests and nine innings against them, he has scored 326 runs at an average of 65.20, with a century and a fifty to his name and a best score of 175 not out. His bowling figures against the same opposition are equally strong, with 33 wickets at 23.72, two five-wicket hauls and best figures of 5/41.

The series continues with the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, scheduled from August 23 to 27. Given his consistent performances against Sri Lanka with both bat and ball, the Galle venue offers Jadeja a strong platform to reach the 350-wicket mark well within the opening match of the tour.
