One of the biggest advantages modern NFL defenses have is uncertainty. If a quarterback can't identify where defenders are headed before the snap, the clock in his head speeds up, and mistakes become more likely.

The Ravens look to create uncertainty before the snap.
Modern NFL offenses spend enormous amounts of time trying to identify coverages before the snap. The more predictable a defense becomes, the easier it is for quarterbacks to find favorable matchups and attack weaknesses. Baltimore believes its secondary can make that process much harder. If Hamilton, Starks, and Hawkins can all rotate responsibilities and align in multiple spots, quarterbacks may be forced to hold the ball a fraction longer while diagnosing what they see.That hesitation can be the difference between a completion and a sack, or between a safe throw and a turnover opportunity. The Ravens have been searching for ways to create more confusion for opposing offenses throughout the offseason. Based on Weaver's comments, Baltimore's secondary intelligence and versatility could become one of the primary tools to achieve that goal in 2026.
