Ravens urged to release 2024 draft pick to shakeup RB room behind Derrick Henry originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Baltimore Ravens are going to be trimming down the roster over the next few weeks as they get down to 53 players for the regular season. While there are bound to be some tough decisions, one that should be quite easy is in the running back room behind superstar and potential future Hall of Famer Derrick Henry. Moe Moton of Bleacher Report is urging the Ravens to cut ties with 2024 draft pick and backup RB Rasheen Ali. Moving on from Ali makes perfect sense, as the backfield behind Henry doesn't really need Ali anymore. Ravens urged to release Rasheen Ali in move that'd make perfect sense "Baltimore may only have room for three tailbacks," Moton writes. "If so, Ali probably loses his spot on the back end of the depth chart." Ali, the fifth-round pick at No. 165 overall, hasn't been able to find his groove with the Ravens during the last two seasons. He's played in 21 games over the past two seasons, running the ball just 17 times for 55 yards and no touchdowns. As a receiver, he has nine catches on 13 targets for 68 yards and one touchdown. While Ali might have potential, on the Ravens, he's not likely to see much work at all. Henry is the bell cow and will see most of the work this upcoming season. MORE: Lamar Jackson is already predicted to be a Hall of Fame QB for Ravens per ESPN Justice Hill is the clear backup running back, and with rookie Adam Randall being a draft favorite of owner Steve Bisciotti, it's hard to imagine Ali getting much work with this Ravens offense going forward. Simply put, he's the odd-man-out in this backfield, and it's not one that really needs to roster four running backs for the regular season. Ali might end up returning to the practice squad as depth, but the Ravens really don't need to keep Ali for the 2026 season, and Moton urging Baltimore to cut ties with the 2024 fifth-rounder makes a lot of sense.
