After days of weighing up different options, checking player prices and changing my mind, my squad is finally locked in.

Building this squad was all about finding the right balance. Rather than spending most of my budget on a few big-name forwards, I tried to spread my budget across every position, from goalkeeper and defence to midfield and attack.

This allowed me to combine reliable players with a few less obvious picks who could make a difference. With my squad finally sorted, I feel confident heading into Matchday 1, although there are always a few surprises in Fantasy football.

Here is the team I am going with for the opening matchday, so let me know what you think in the comments.

UCL Matchday 1 Team

In goal, Yann Sommer gets the start with a solid home fixture against Aston Villa, giving me a great chance at a clean sheet on opening night. He plays behind an Inter Milan defense that stays very organized at home, making him a reliable, calm choice between the posts.

Moving into defense, I am running a back three of Gabriel Magalhaes, Marquinhos, and Denzel Dumfries, which gives me a great mix of clean sheet potential and attacking threat. Gabriel arrives on strong domestic form after playing 90 minutes in a win over Chelsea, and he is always a goal threat from set pieces.

Marquinhos has a very favorable home fixture against Slovan Bratislava where PSG should control the game, while Dumfries pushes high up the right wing where he can easily land goals or assists.

My midfield is packed with creativity and goal threat, led by Bukayo Saka taking the captain’s armband for his trip to Napoli. Saka is in brilliant form with two goals already this season, making him an easy choice to lead the team.

Beside him, Fermin Lopez and Vitinha bring strong home matchups where their teams should dominate possession, while Dominik Szoboszlai comes in with great momentum after scoring and creating chances for Liverpool.

Up front, I have lined up three heavy hitters in Harry Kane, Alexander Isak, and Luis Suarez. Kane leads the line in what should be a high-scoring home game against Bodo/Glimt, while Isak enters Matchday 1 on fire after scoring two goals in his last league match. Suarez completes the front three and remains a dangerous finisher, giving me plenty of attacking potential across the line.

Finally, my bench gives me great cover and flexibility for manual substitutions across the matchday. Having David Raya ready in goal, Marc Pubill and Noah Brown in defense, and Michael Olise in midfield means I can easily swap out any starter who underperforms on day one.

READ MORE: UCL MD1 Fantasy Player Picks: Best 4-4-2 Selections for Matchday 1
