Owner of the Los Angeles Rams, Stan Kroenke, is now the owner of MLB’s Los Angeles Angels, and the announcement of the purchase was made just about one week before the Rams kickoff their 2026 season against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia. A season where the Rams are heavily expected to make a run at the Super Bowl.
How busy must you be to be Kroenke? As his NFL team was focused on trading for Myles Garrett and then figuring out how to fit Aaron Donald back into the equation, Kroenke was figuring out how to buy the Angels and make baseball fans around the country happier.
The expectation is that Kroenke and the Angels will find success, as so many other of his teams (like the Rams) have. We’ll see.
It’s major sports news, and it in about one week when the NFL kicks off, that will be major sports news too. Never a dull moment in L.A. or the world of sports.
LA Rams owner Kroenke reaches agreement to buy Angels (mlb.com)
“It ends Moreno’s 23-year tenure as owner since he bought the club in 2003, but he will remain a minority owner with an undisclosed share. The Angels had early success under his ownership, winning six division titles (2004-05, ’07-09 and ’14) but have struggled over the last decade. They haven’t had a winning record since 2015 and currently have a 53-85 record that’s tied for the worst mark in the AL.
“The Angels are a storied franchise anchored in a great market,” Kroenke said in a statement released by both the Angels and Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. “We look forward to an exciting future with the Angels organization.”
Mike Trout isn’t ditching Eagles fandom despite Rams owner buying Angels (sports.yah00)
“Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke has agreed to buy the Angels, with the monumental purchase going through Kroenke Sports & Entertainment for a valuation of $4 billion. Assuming Trout stays with the ballclub through the remainder of his contract — expires after the 2030 season — he will probably get to know the new man in charge pretty well. The three-time American League MVP has no intention of abandoning the Eagles, though.
“Mike Trout said he’s too diehard of an Eagles fan to change allegiances and become a Rams fan with Stan Kroenke buying the team,” MLB.com’s Rhett Bollinger posted on X. “But said that he would go support the Rams at a home game as long as they weren’t playing the Eagles.”
Why Your Team Sucks 2026: Los Angeles Rams (defector)
“The Rams were SO CLOSE to winning the NFC West, getting a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, and being served up a birthday cake of a Patriots team in the Super Bowl—only for the division-rival Seahawks to snatch all of that away from them and win the championship. Those seven weeks are collectively the most delighted I have ever been as a Seahawks fan. A Super Bowl win may be the mountaintop, but I am a hater first and foremost, and the combined late-season failures of the Rams and 49ers will keep my wicked black heart pumping poison long after my brain dies.
Friends, I’m about to tell you all about how the Rams faceplanted, and I am GIDDY. I get to live it all again.“
The LA Rams are either winning the Super Bowl or facing a massive disappointment with almost no margin for error (atozsports)
“As Ben Fox pointed out on X, every team over the past 30 years that entered Week 1 with +500 or better odds to win the Super Bowl outright has failed to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. That has happened 20 times. Those short favorites have gone 0-for-20 winning the ring.
The list reads like a graveyard of dominant rosters. It includes the 2024, 2021, and 2020 Chiefs, the 2019 and 2017 Patriots, the 2015 and 2014 Seahawks, the 2011, 2009, 2008, and 2007 Patriots, a three-way tie in 2005 between Indianapolis, New England, and Philadelphia, the 2004 Eagles, the 2001 and 2002 St. Louis Rams, the 2000 St. Louis Rams, the 1999 Vikings, the 1998 and 1997 Packers, and the 1996 49ers.“
Rams rumors: Aaron Donald’s mysterious Rams Week 1 status less likely (sports.yahoo)
“ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported Tuesday that a later debut currently appears more likely.
“I would say, based on everything I’ve been told, a Week 2 or 3 debut looks more likely than Week 1,” Graziano said on “NFL Live.” “But again, it’s still on the table.”
And keeping it on the table may have some value.“
Puka Nacua’s ex-girlfriend makes new abuse claim as Rams await suspension verdict: ‘What broke me’ (nypost)
“Puka Nacua’s off-the-field worries could be getting worse.
The football world is awaiting a verdict on whether the Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver will be suspended because of his offseason transgressions.
But now Nacua’s ex-girlfriend Hallie Aiono has made some concerning claims about elements of her relationship with him during a TikTok video that was published on Sunday night.“
Running Back Market Rebounds, Todd Gurley Has Thoughts (sports.yahoo)
“”I’m definitely happy for them boys and what they’re doing,” Gurley said on the “4th and South” podcast. “But I’m still a little bit pissed off at the same time because you got somebody that’s half the player making double the amount. Which still don’t make sense to me. But to see what them boys have been able to do, obviously Gibbs, JT getting his third deal, and then Bijan. We’re talking about different types of backs.”
Gurley knows what it’s like to be paid like a top player. After three 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his first four years, the Rams made him the league’s highest-paid running back in 2018 at four years, $60 million. That’s 15 million a year. He played two more seasons before injuries led to his release in 2020.“
Insider Reveals Anonymous GM’s NSFW Reaction to Rams, Aaron Donald Reunion (heavy.com)
“There will obviously be some rust that Donald will have to shake off, as he hasn’t played football in two years and is now 35 years old, but by all accounts, he appears to be in football shape. If he can return and play at merely an above-average level, that makes Los Angeles infinitely more dangerous, and it seems like one anonymous GM is well aware of the issues the Rams’ defensive front will cause the rest of the league.
“F*** you. This is so f***ed,” the general manager said to NFL insider Jordan Schultz when informed of Donald’s unretirement and subsequent return to L.A.“

Why Nick Shook chose Josh Allen: A honeymoon season with new WR1 DJ Moore elevates Buffalo’s offense into the elite tier, propelling the unit’s engine, Allen, to the front of the MVP pack. With an AFC East title in hand, the star quarterback takes home his second MVP as he chases the ultimate prize.“
Top 100 Players of 2026, Nos. 10-4: Matthew Stafford vaults into top 4 after MVP season (nfl.com)
“The fine wine that is Stafford had perhaps his best campaign at age 37. Not only did he earn his first NFL MVP, he joined G.O.A.T. Tom Brady (2007) as the only quarterbacks to lead the league in passing yards and passing TDs in a season in which he threw fewer than 10 interceptions. Plus, the last time a QB won MVP on a wild-card team? Peyton Manning in 2008 — the year before Stafford was drafted No. 1 overall by the Lions. The veteran passer has taken Sean McVay’s offense to the next level over the last half-decade, and the gunslinger’s ability to come up in the clutch in 2025 made the Rams extremely watchable and took them to the brink of his second Super Bowl appearance. Opposing defenses get the unfortunate task of facing the reigning MVP this fall, and thanks to Drew Brees, 2026 might not be his last in an NFL uniform.“
