The Los Angeles Rams were trampled by the San Francisco 49ers in a game that saw the team’s highly anticipated season opener end with a dud.
The Rams chose to fly in and arrive a day before the season opener, rather than a week early as the Niners did.
The Rams thought they wouldn’t try to adjust to a different time zone and would instead limit their exposure, stick to their schedule, and avoid further adjustments.
However, the team did not show up in Australia, at least not the version that was expected, and instead, it was a shell of a team.
Then the team fumbled as well, with tight end Tyler Higbee, which further amplified the problems.
The run game was fine, going 29 attempts for 122 yards and a touchdown, but it was not enough when the passing game failed to deliver in longer-distance downs.
The difference in the game really came down to what quarterbacks were able to do in key spots, since Brock Purdy made play after play.
He threw for three touchdowns to three different receivers, and he managed to make big-time throws in longer downs.
In every facet of the game, the Rams were totally outplayed by the 49ers, and Week 2 will be the ultimate barometer of where the team is at.

“Sometimes sports can humble you, and today was one of those days.” McVay said, “I make no excuses.”
Luckily, the Rams get more than a week until their next game, playing the New York Giants on Monday Night on September 21st.
