PSG won the UEFA Super Cup last night, beating Aston Villa 2-1 in an enjoyable game in Salzburg.
Luis Enrique’s team picked up where they left off last season, winning games and winning trophies. A very strong team picked by the Spanish coach saw off a spirited Villa.
Barcola notable by his absences in PSG win
One very notable factor from the win was the lack of Bradley Barcola. New signing Maghnes Akliouche started the game, and other Parisians stars came on to join the party later on.
But one player who was notable by their absence was Barcola. He’s been strongly linked to Liverpool, and has made it very clear that he wants to leave. His lack of minutes last night makes a move seem more likely than ever.
The France international did look happy as he celebrated on the pitch at full time, and one moment he shared with sporting director Luis Campos is being said to look a lot like a “goodbye.”
In other news…
Ferran Torres is skipping Barcelona training this week because his move to PSG has got so close.
The latest report was that the clubs were close to agreeing a €55m fee for Torres, and while the deal isn’t done, we wouldn’t imagine the price is going to change much, if at all.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Zion Suzuki will also join PSG in the coming days – but he looks more likely to be turning out for Juventus this season, strangely.
