⭐ Top pick — Chelsea to win vs Fulham
Chelsea enter the season with title expectations, while Fulham are starting over under first-time manager Alvaro Arbeloa. There's simply a big talent gap between these teams, and I expect that to show right away. Fulham were a bottom-half team by most of the numbers last season and have plenty of questions entering the opener. At basically a coin flip, I'll happily back the much better team.
⚽ Best total — Ipswich/Sunderland Under 2.5 Goals
Ipswich allowed just 42 goals on their way to promotion last season, and I expect them to lean on that defense now that they're stepping up to the Premier League. They're also missing a couple of midfielders for the opener. Sunderland should be comfortable keeping this game tight as well. With two teams that won't want to give anything away in Week 1, I'm expecting a low-scoring start.
🎲 Wild card — Hull/Man United both teams to score — No
Hull's promotion covered up some pretty ugly numbers. They allowed 66 goals and finished second-last in the Championship in expected points, and now they could be missing as many as nine players for their Premier League opener. United have some injury issues of their own, but they're still massive favorites here. Instead of laying the high price with United, I'll bet on Hull failing to score against the much better side.

Chris Vasile's outright pick: Chelsea (12%)
At 12%, Chelsea is the first outright that jumped off the board. Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United are all navigating managerial changes, while Arsenal faces a completely different challenge after finally ending its title drought. It's one thing to hunt down the league leaders, it's another to be the team everyone is chasing. Chelsea is also starting a new chapter under Xabi Alonso, but I view that as a positive. He transformed Bayer Leverkusen into Bundesliga champions by instilling a clear identity and winning mentality. With Cole Palmer, Estevao, Moises Caicedo forming one of the league's most talented cores, Chelsea has everything it needs to contend for the title. At 10/1, the upside is simply too good to pass up.
Pick made on August 1.
