R. Mohan, poet and cultural activist, passed away here on Wednesday (September 9, 2026) evening. He was 73.
Published - September 09, 2026 09:34 pm ISTA native of Alappuzha district, he had been living in Kozhikode for many years. Mohan’s articles and poems have appeared in Malayalam periodicals. He was well known for Cholkkazhcha, a performance-cum-recital of Malayalam poems with acting and visual expressions, at cultural forums in Kozhikode. Urumbukalkku Olithavalangal Venda, his collection of poems, was published recently.
Mohan also worked for a while as a teacher and a journalist. He is survived by his wife Prabhavathi and daughters Sithara and Nagina. The final rites will be performed at the Mavoor Road crematorium on Thursday morning.
