NewsFree365Piker demands Democrats defend him from attacks, claims he’s no ‘toxic radical force'

Far-left streamer Hasan Piker called on Democratic Party leaders during a Wednesday livestream to defend him and accept his place in their coalition as Republican criticism of his rhetoric.

Far-left streamer Hasan Piker called on Democratic Party leaders during a Wednesday livestream to defend him and accept his place in their coalition as Republican criticism of his rhetoric emerged as an issue in key midterm races, while a former staffer for former President Joe Biden told Fox News Digital on Thursday that candidates should disavow Piker and refocus on local issues.

During the livestream, Piker declared himself part of the Democratic coalition and said Republicans were using criticism of him to distract from what he described as the "cost-of-living crisis."

"Democrats, listen to me, I know we don't always see eye to eye on a lot of stuff, but you have to literally, at some point — I know you don't want to do this — defend me," he said.

"Not because you love what I have to say, not because I'm part of this coalition, even though I am, whether you like it or not, but you are going to inevitably have to say, ‘This is a ridiculous conversation that we're having because the real conversation Republicans don't want to have is the cost-of-living crisis,’" Piker continued.

He then urged Democrats to accept a political setback in order to challenge how critics portray him.

"That requires you to basically to take the L a little bit and maybe be a bit more honest about how I'm not this dangerous, toxic radical force," Piker said.

"Democrats don’t have to adopt every influencer who happens to support some Dem candidates," moderate Democratic strategist Yemisi Egbewole told Fox News Digital. "I don’t understand why they would waste their political capital on it either. Hasan is perfectly capable of defending himself."

Egbewole, former chief of staff to the Biden White House Press Office, said embracing Piker would keep him at the center of the party's political debate.

"Don’t embrace him, and he erases himself from the conversation," she added.

The dispute is playing out in two battleground states. Piker campaigned with Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed before he narrowly defeated moderate Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., and rallied with Michigan gubernatorial candidate and Democratic Socialists of America member Francesca Hong before David Crowley defeated her in the Wisconsin Democratic primary Tuesday. Piker previously called for Democrats who opposed El-Sayed to face punishment.

Crowley ruled out campaigning with Piker while seeking to unite Democrats against Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany, according to an "UpFront" clip posted Thursday.

"No, I don't plan on campaigning with Hasan," Crowley said, adding, "I don't want to lend credibility to platforms that I believe further divides us."

Piker responded to Crowley on X by wishing him success against Tiffany and urging the Democratic nominee to consider policies that Piker credited with driving primary turnout.

"This is devastating news for me, i however wish crowley the best of luck for the wisconsin trifecta. hope he takes some of the great policies that brought out 300k wisconsinites into consideration as the dems work to defeat tom tiffany as a unified front!" Piker wrote.

Algemeiner Washington correspondent Corey Walker rejected Piker’s appeal and cited the streamer’s treatment of ideological opponents.

"Nobody owes you a single thing. Hasan Piker and his fanbase are relentlessly brutal towards anyone they have the slightest disagreement with," Walker said.

"Piker will mock, smear, defame and ruthlessly target his ideological adversaries. He deserves the same level of sympathy and support he gives everyone else: zero," he added.

Freelance journalist Magdi Jacobs said disavowal was the clearest way for Democrats to end the controversy surrounding Piker.

"If Democrats want the conversation to not be about Hasan Piker, the logical path is to disavow Hasan Piker," Jacobs said. "If they embrace Hasan Piker, the conversation about Hasan Piker will continue."

Fox News Digital reached out to Piker and the DNC for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
