Peter Schrager will host his own hour-long daily program on ESPN according to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand. “Big Day with Peter Schrager” will premiere next week. Schrager confirmed the news in a series of posts on X replying to people reacting to Marchand’s post.
News first broke that ESPN was considering Schrager for his own show in May.
According to Marchand the show will air at 2 p.m. ET, replacing a SportsCenter in the timeslot. The Pat McAfee Show will act as the lead-in. “Big Day” will air Monday through Thursday during football season with another new show, “Bussin’ with Pate,” airing in the timeslot on Fridays.
Schrager was a co-host of “Good Morning Football” from 2016 until 2025 when he left NFL Network for ESPN. He quickly became a regular on “Get Up” and “First Take,” among other shows, and after just 18 months at the network he’s getting his own show.
The report says that Schrager will be joined by “two or three panelists each day, mixing in ex-players, reporters and potentially some celebrity sports fans.”

With ESPN taking control of NFL Network, that means that we could get regular reunions of Schrager and his old Good Morning Football co-host Kyle Brandt. And they can do “Good Morning Football” bits like “The Wall Streeters.” This is something many people (definitely not just me) have been asking for since Brandt started appearing on ESPN.
“Big Day” is a big deal

This is quite an honor for Schrager. Not many people have had their own eponymous show on the network. You think of people like McAfee, Stephen A. Smith and Mike Greenberg. Scott Van Pelt has his own SportsCenter. These are the people you think about when you think about ESPN in 2026.
It’s a pretty big deal if ESPN is going to put your name on the channel guide and let you carry a full hour on your own.
The show premiers on September 10th.
