One of the major switches in recent years with football is the prominence of positional versatility. Whether it’s a running back, wide receiver, linebacker, or even a quarterback, coaches want guys who can line up anywhere on the field and give the team options and flexibility.
The most notable player of that mold in Penn State history was tight end Tyler Warren, who famously lined up at nearly every position on the offense. It’s unclear whether this next player will have the same level of success, but Matt Campbell and his staff have been experimenting with Peyton Falzone at tight end.

He certainly has the size for the position, currently listed at 6-5 and 216 pounds, but does he have the skills? Falzone has been described as a tremendous athlete, so now let’s see if he has the hands to pair with it.
It sounds like the coaching staff has a lot of confidence in the freshman as a player and he is trying to reinforce it by being a team player and being malleable. It hasn’t been determined if this switch is permanent, but the Nittany Lions have years to decide how to best use Falzone. You can be sure that Campbell will be asked about the switch soon, so we should get more clarity on the situation in the near future.
