Party leaders, public pay homage to Tyagi Immanuel Sekaran in Paramakudi

Political party leaders and a large number of people paid floral tributes at the memorial of Tyagi Immanuel Sekaran in Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district on Friday (September 11, 2026), amid heavy security cover provided by police, on the occasion of his 69th death anniversary.

First, tributes were paid on behalf of the people of Sellur village, the native place of Tyagi Immanuel Sekaran. Following them, members of the leader’s family — his daughter Sundari Prabharani, and grandsons Chakravarthy, Arokiya Goman and Jeevan — paid their respects. Subsequently, Devendrar Cultural Association members paid their tributes.

Tamil Nadu Ministers R. Nirmalkumar (Energy Resources and Law), K.G. Arunraj (Health and Family Welfare), T.K. Prabhu (Natural Resources), P. Mathan Raja (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), and V.K. Rajeev (Environment and Climate Change), and MLAs S. Sabari Iyngaran, Ilango, Karthik, Ayyanar, S. Karthikeyan, S.S. Gopison, and M.V. Karuppaiah paid respects at the memorial.

Later, speaking to reporters, Mr. Nirmalkumar said as per the instructions of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, floral tributes were paid at Tyagi Immanuel Sekaran memorial.

On behalf of the DMK, Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin placed a wreath on the samathi and garlanded the statue of Tyagi Immanuel Sekaran. Former Ministers K.R. Periyakaruppan and R.S. Rajakannappan, and MLA Katharbatcha Muthuramalingam accompanied him.

On behalf of the AIADMK, former Minister R.B. Udayakumar and others paid their respects.

BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran, former Congress State president Manickam Tagore, former president K. Selvaperunthagai, Tourism Minister S. Rajesh Kumar, Naam Tamilar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman, AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran, DMDK town secretary Anbu Dakshinamoorthy, Social Justice Minister Vanni Arasu (on behalf of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi), Puthiya Tamilagam Party president K. Krishnasamy, and SDPI State president Nellai Mubarak too paid their respects.

Under the leadership of Ramanathapuram District Superintendent of Police G. Chandeesh, 8,000 police personnel had been engaged in security duty.

To prevent rule violations, 38 check posts had been set up across the district. A total of 700 surveillance cameras had been installed in Paramakudi and surrounding areas, and the police continuously monitored the movement of vehilcles and crowds from Paramakudi Town Police Station control room.
