Celtic-linked winger Oskar Fallenius has opened the door to a potential free transfer in January as he approaches the end of his contract with Djurgarden.
The 24-year-old is due to become a free agent at the end of the calendar year, potentially putting Celtic and other interested clubs on alert ahead of the January window.Fallenius was first linked with a move to Parkhead last summer, while more recent reports in Sweden claimed he had also been considered by Martin O’Neill as Celtic looked to strengthen their wide options.
Despite being heavily tipped to leave Djurgarden this summer, the winger remained in Sweden and now appears increasingly likely to see out the remainder of his deal.
Asked by whether he could still move to a country where the transfer window remains open, Fallenius replied: “No, I find that hard to believe.
“I have planned to stay here until the contract expires and then we can take it from there.”
Discussing his future beyond that point, he added: “But we have a pretty big range right now, and I have ambitions.
“But I’ve been here for three and a half years now and I think I’ll get a clear feeling after the season, so we’ll see what’s best for me and Djurgarden.”
Fallenius is predominantly a left-sided winger despite being right-footed, meaning he could theoretically provide further competition for Hyunjun Yang and Sebastian Tounekti should Celtic revive their interest.
The Hoops were reportedly in the market for another left-winger during the summer transfer window, with Utrecht’s Adrian Blake among the players linked with a move to the Hoops.
