Entering the month of August, just a few blue-chip dominoes in the 2027 recruiting cycle were still standing. The top uncommitted prospect in the nation finally took his name off the board on Friday afternoon.

Massillon (Ohio) Washington four-star linebacker Brayton Feister has announced his commitment to Oregon. He chose the Ducks over Cal, Georgia and Ohio State. His pledge gives Dan Lanning and Co. 25 total commitments this cycle.

Feister is the No. 130 overall prospect and No. 10 LB in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 7 senior in the state of Ohio.

With the 6-foot-2, 245-pounder now in the fold, Oregon strengthens its grip on the No. 1 recruiting class in the Big Ten this cycle. The Ducks remain at No. 4 nationally, one spot ahead of Ohio State and seven spots ahead of Michigan.

Feister forms trio of blue-chip LB commits

The Buckeye State standout was originally set to make his commitment back in July, but that decision was postponed, and over the last month or so, his recruitment had been rather quiet. Oregon also had the momentum coming out of official visit season. When it was revealed earlier this week that Feister had locked in a new commitment date for Aug. 14, arrows continued to point toward Eugene.

He’s now in the mix and is one of three blue-chip linebackers in the Ducks’ 2027 class, alongside Mililani (Hi.) four-star Toa Satele and Philadelphia St. Joseph’s Prep four-star Brandon Lockley Jr. Satele is the No. 77 overall prospect and No. 6 LB in the nation.

“I knew Oregon was home for me,” Satele told Rivals’ Greg Biggins after making his June pledge. “I have great relationships over there and have a strong comfort level with the coaches and the players on the team. I’ve been multiple times on visits and to a game and I have a really strong comfort level. Some of the coaches I’ve known since I was a freshman and I know those guys will look out for me and take care of me on and off the field.”

Oregon has eight Top-100 commits this cycle

Despite replacing a pair of coordinators and consistently fighting the negative recruiting that comes from being based in Eugene, Lanning and his staff remain among the best in the nation when it comes to winning blue-chip battles.

Just look at the home states for their eight top-100 commitments this cycle: Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, Nevada, Arizona, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Hawaii. The Ducks consistently go coast-to-coast in search of big fish, a majority of which they find ways to reel in.

Harper Woods (Mich.) five-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant and Glassboro (N.J.) four-star WR Xavier Sabb are an elite pass-catching combo, checking in as the No. 5 and 7 prospects at the position this cycle. Chandler (Ariz.) Rivals five-star quarterback Will Mencl remains the No. 1 passer in the Rivals300.

Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook five-star EDGE Rashad Streets headlines the defensive side of the ball alongside Las Vegas Bishop Gorman four-star cornerback Hayden Stepp, Broken Arrow (Okla.) four-star safety Semaj Stanford and others. Collierville (Tenn.) four-star athlete Tae Walden Jr. could play either side of the ball at the next level.

The entire 25-man class can be seen here. The last time Oregon finished outside the top five of the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings was the 2023 cycle. It remains firmly at No. 4 heading into football season.
