Liverpool FC on Friday evening that Academy graduate and Scouser Curtis Jones has officially left the club for the long rumoured destination of Internazionale Milan, following a successful . The deal is for £30m with an additional £4.3m in add ons, including a 10% sell-on clause for Liverpool.

It’s been well reported that not only was Inter adamant about getting their man, all parties were working hard to come to a good valuation for the player after the saga started all the way back in January. It may have been the happiest saga, as all sides try to figure out the best way to go about this, but it got done in the end.

Jones had spent his entire career with Liverpool, joining the Academy at the U9 level (alongside other former Reds Trent Alexander-Arnold and Missy Bo Kearns), and made his senior debut in January 2019. His senior debut goal came against Everton in the FA Cup at Anfield the following year – what a way to make your mark as a kid from Liverpool.

He has since made 226 appearances, scored 22 goals, and won six trophies (including two Premier League titles) with the Reds.

With a little less than two weeks left in the transfer window, Liverpool must now be adding a midfielder to their shopping lists (hopefully) and/or preparing young Trey Nyoni and James McConnell to get more minutes in the senior squad.

Jones’ departure means there’s officially no Scousers in the first team squad, with Jayden Danns still listed as part of the Academy, which is just an unsettling feeling. Football really is changing all around us, isn’t it? Jones may have been a frustrating player at times, but when his abilities did show up he was a valuable addition to the squad.
