With the summer transfer window in Spain finally coming to an end on Tuesday night, FC Barcelona have completed their squad and have now announced the official shirt numbers for the entire roster.
The departures of several players like Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Ronald Araujo, Ferran Torres, Robert Lewandowski, Marcus Rashford and Marc Casado, coupled with the arrival of several new signings, have led to a major reshuffle of the available numbers.
Changes in squad numbers for Barcelona
Among the players who were already at the club last season, first-choice goalkeeper Joan García has moved from No. 13 to No. 1, vacated by Ter Stegen’s exit.
Meanwhile, Fermin Lopez has switched from No. 16 to No. 7, which became free after Ferran’s transfer to PSG.
Meanwhile, veteran goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny moves from No. 25 to No. 13.
Furthermore, two academy graduates Brian Farinas and Xavi Espart have been successfully registered as first-team players in La Liga and been given first-team numbers, taking No. 4 and No. 12 respectively.
New signings take over vacant numbers
As for the summer arrivals, deadline-day signing Gabriel Jesus takes the No. 9 shirt, one of the club’s most prestigious numbers, previously worn by Robert Lewandowski.
Karim Adeyemi, who arrived from Borussia Dortmund will wear No. 14, which became available following Marcus Rashford’s departure.
Marquee summer signing Rodri has been handed his preferred #16 shirt vacated by Fermin, while Anthony Gordon becomes the new No. 17, inheriting the number previously worn by Casado.

In goal, Dominik Livakovic takes No. 25 from Szczesny, while Joao Cancelo keeps the No. 2 shirt he wore during his loan spell at Barcelona in the second half of last season.
Youngsters’ situations
Interestingly, Roony Bardghji continues to be listed as No. 19 by Barcelona. However, he is currently not registered in La Liga as the club removed his registration following his ACL injury.
A number of young players who have been involved in Hansi Flick’s first-team setup during the opening weeks of the season remain registered with the reserve side.
As a result, they continue to wear numbers above 25.
New signing Jesse Bisiwu will wear No. 27, while pre-season top scorer Hamza Abdelkarim gets No. 29. Backup goalkeeper Eder Aller has been handed the No. 31 shirt, whereas Jordi Pesquer will take No. 33.
