Now You See Me Franchise Is Officially Changing Formats In 2 Months

Now You See Me is gearing up for a major format switch. Released in 2013, Now You See Me introduces the Four Horsemen, magicians who pull off elaborate bank heists during their live shows. After the film proved successful, stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco, and Woody Harrelson returned for a sequel in 2016, with a third installment, Variety, the Now You See Me franchise is now set to make the jump to Broadway. Set to debut on November 11 at New York City's Al Hirschfeld theater, the show will run for eight weeks, concluding on January 3.

Though plot details are being kept under wraps for the stage show, it is set to feature an “explosive mix of high-tech illusions, solo stunts and jaw-dropping spectacles.” Regarding casting for the Four Horsemen, Gabriella Lester will play the escapologist, Matthew Pomeroy a mentalist, and James More and Darcy Oake as illusionists.

The upcoming Broadway debut marks the latest release in a global tour for Now You See Me. The show has already been staged in Australia, London, and Singapore, and it's set to open in Las Vegas on October 15. More dates and locations are confirmed to be coming. The show's creator and creative producer, Simon Painter, shared an enthusiastic statement about the upcoming Broadway debut:

“Now You See Me Live pushes the boundaries of stage magic to the absolute edge, making the impossible possible in front of your very eyes. "

Though reviews for the three Now You See Me 4 is also in development. This film would presumably feature the return of Eisenberg, Harrelson, and Franco. After sitting out the second installment, Isla Fisher returned in Now You Don't as Henley Reeves, and could reprise her role once more. Ruffalo returned in the third installment as well, but in a much more limited capacity, raising questions about his involvement moving forward.

Though much remains hidden behind a curtain regarding the future of the Now You See Me film franchise, the Broadway show is a sign that interest remains in the art of magic and illusionism and its mix with the heist genre. The Four Horsemen's time on the big screen may not be over just yet.
