Azzi Fudd’s fans expressed dissatisfaction with the Dallas Wings’ social media team on Monday after they celebrated Arike Ogunbowale’s latest milestone. In the 78-70 loss to the Golden State Valkyries, Ogunbowale recorded her 1000th career assist. The Wings’ X account posted a graphic, congratulating the veteran for her latest feat.
Fudd’s fans didn’t have a direct issue with the team celebrating Ogunbowale. However, they were angered that the No. 1 pick didn’t receive the same recognition for breaking the franchise 3-point rookie records. Fudd has the most 3-pointers in a season, in a game, and in a quarter by a Wings rookie.
The Wings never posted about her setting the franchise rookie record of 61 3-pointers in a season, which she clinched on Aug. 3 against the Connecticut Sun. After seeing the shoutout for Ogunbowale, several Fudd fans slammed the social media team.
“it’s not too late to post one for Azzi Fudd… no need to be shy, c’mon now,” one fan said.

Wings drop to 1-5 without Azzi Fudd
Azzi Fudd’s absence seems to be hurting the Wings more than one would have imagined. After Monday’s loss to the Valkyries, the Wings are now 1-5 in the No. 1 pick’s absence. Dallas is sorely missing Fudd’s 3-point shooting and defense, which is holding the team back from scaling its potential.
According to Real App, the Wings are shooting a measly 24.7% from 3-point range when Fudd isn’t in the lineup. That would be the worst mark in WNBA history.
Fudd is shooting 39.7% from 3 on 5.2 attempts. Even when she’s not shooting it well, teams have feared her presence on the perimeter, so the attention she gets has, in turn, opened up the floor for others to attack.
Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale, in particular, benefit from it as they can get to their spots without any resistance. Since Azzi Fudd went down with her knee injury on Aug. 7, Bueckers and Ogunbowale have produced some of their most inefficient performances.
On Monday, Bueckers committed a career-worst seven turnovers. She started the game slow, going 1-for-7 from the field in the first half before recovering in the second half to finish with 21 points on 8-for-18 shots.
Dallas will hope Fudd returns in its next game on Thursday at home against the Indiana Fever.
