New York Giants' Arvell Reese tried sneaking back onto field vs. Vikings

New York Giants first-round pick Arvell Reese is so eager to play football this season that he's running onto the field even when his number isn't called. In Saturday's preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings, Reese played 12 snaps on defense and two on special teams, making two tackles on the day. It apparently wasn't enough. The rookie wanted to keep playing, even when the first-team defense was relieved in the first half. "I thought Arvell played really well. I didn't really see anything I didn't like. I don't think anybody felt that way," head coach John Harbaugh told reporters on Monday. "The one thing we probably had a problem with was he tried to put himself back in the game. "Somewhere in about -- I don't know if it was the late second or third quarter -- he ran out on the field, and we had to grab him and say, 'No, we've got you out right now.' So, he's ready to -- he's looking forward to this week. I can tell you that." Reese was the fifth overall selection in the 2026 NFL draft out of Ohio State and has won a starting job as an inside linebacker in new coordinator Dennard Wilson's defense.
