Nebraska football reveals new black alternate jerseys for 2026

Nebraska football unveiled its alternate uniforms for the 2026 season on Saturday. The Huskers will once again don black jerseys, but this year with a massive red flare, featuring the theme "Our Red Burns Brighter." The uniform is for the second-annual Blackout game. The design was inspired by the night game atmosphere of a Husker football game at Memorial Stadium. The uniforms blend the energy and intensity of playing under the lights at Nebraska inside Memorial Stadium. Along with the primary black, the jersey features metallic red accents inspired by the glow of flames and fireworks, and the vibrant red that shines throughout Memorial Stadium on game day. The metallic red finishes evoke the stadium's nighttime synchronized light shows, fire tower flames in the end zone, and red fireworks shining above the North Stadium scoreboard. The bottom of the jersey's back panel features a custom perforated Block "N", a nod to the drone shows that have become a signature moment heading into the fourth quarter of Nebraska night games. Inside the collar, the "A Winning Tradition" lining serves as a tribute to the Huskers who have helped Nebraska win over 81 percent of its night games at Memorial Stadium, complemented by the traditional Block "N" on the back of the collar. The jersey is paired with a black helmet that features the debut of the iconic Huskers script in metallic red. The helmet features an "A Winning Tradition" emblem on the back, similar to the one on the inside of the jersey collar. On top of the helmet, the metallic red stripe features the crop row pattern, serving as a homage to the state's agricultural heritage. The alternate uniform will make its field debut on Halloween against the Washington Huskies. Kickoff time will be announced later this fall.
