The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has unveiled the Namma BMTC Mobile App 2.0, a new digital platform aimed at making public transport in Bengaluru more convenient, connected, and cashless.

The app was unveiled by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar at the event celebrating 100 days as Karnataka Chief Minister programme held at the Vidhana Soudha Banquet Hall on Thursday.

According to the BMTC, the upgraded app brings several public transport services onto a single platform, including BMTC bus ticketing, digital payments, bus passes, journey planning, live bus tracking and Namma Metro ticketing. The integration is expected to make it easier for commuters who use both buses and metro services as part of their daily journeys.

Features

One of the key features of the app is real-time bus tracking. Passengers can view the location of buses, estimated arrival times, routes and stop-wise information. The app can also identify nearby bus stops and display the buses and services available from those locations.

Commuters can purchase BMTC bus tickets digitally through the app. It also allows passengers to purchase Namma Metro QR tickets, enabling users to access both BMTC and Bengaluru Metro services through the same application.

“The app’s BMTC-BMRCL integrated ticketing feature is intended to simplify multimodal travel. Through the journey planner, users can enter their origin and destination and view available travel options involving buses, Metro services or a combination of both,” an official said.

“The platform also allows passengers to purchase various BMTC bus passes, including the Express Pass, Ordinary Service Pass, Express Extension Pass, Vajra Gold Pass, Ordinary Extension Pass, Vayu Vajra Pass, and NICE Road Pass,” the official added.

The app supports cashless payments through UPI, mobile wallets, and other available digital payment methods. The ‘My Tickets & Passes’ section allows users to access active tickets and passes, previous transaction details, and digital receipts in one place.

Bus-Metro integration

The application is available in Kannada and English, with headings, labels, bus stop names and receipts also available in Kannada. “As part of BMTC’s digital transport ecosystem, National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) cards can also be used for travel on BMTC buses. The facility is expected to benefit passengers who use NCMC cards across participating transport systems in the country,” an official said.

The Namma BMTC Mobile App 2.0 is currently available for download on the Google Play store. Commuters can download the app and access the integrated transport services on mobile phones.
