With just a few days before the kickoff the 2026 season, Michigan State football fans got some unfortunate news, as it was reported by Emmett Matasovsky of Spartan Shadows that freshman wide receiver Rai'Shawn Elmore has been suspended from the team indefinitely and removed from the roster that is viewable online.
Elmore was a 3-star commitment in the 2026 class, who MSU flipped from ECU on November 25 last year. Elmore is from Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail, North Carolina.
Michigan State football freshman WR Rai’Shawn Elmore is not listed on the online roster and a program spokesperson confirmed he is suspended indefinitely.

No further details have been reported at this time, so it's unclear why the suspension occurred, and if Elmore will be permanently dismissed from the team. If that is the case, another scholarship slot will open up. With the transfer portal closed for the season, it could afford an opportunity to a preferred walk-on to earn that slot, if it comes to that.
