La Sasso spoke to reporters after his final round at The Club at Chatham Hills on Sunday evening.The 22-year-old was asked whether winning LIV Indianapolis was bittersweet without Mickelson in attendance.
“He sent us a text last night I know he was watching, he said it was the most fun he’s had,“ he replied.
“I’m thankful for everything he’s done for me.“
It’s a real shame that Mickelson hasn’t played much in 2026. He clearly has a lot of off-course issues that he needs to address.
Hopefully he does exactly that and we get to see him back in action next year alongside La Sasso.

La Sasso was asked how important Mickelson was regarding his decision to join LIV Golf in the first place back in January.“Yeah, he’s an absolute legend of the game,“ the young American admitted.
“He’s been absolutely unbelievable to me the entire year.
