Maxx Crosby Emerges as Potential Rams Target in Blockbuster Defensive Move

Maxx Crosby could have been wearing the Los Angeles Rams horns this season. That sounds wild now, especially after the Rams already landed Myles Garrett, however, the latest revelation shows just how aggressively Sean McVay and Les Snead were shopping for another game-wrecking edge rusher.

The Rams did not simply stumble into Garrett. Crosby was also on their radar, and this was not a new fascination. The Rams had already explored a Crosby deal years earlier, making the latest pursuit look more like unfinished business than a random offseason call.

The Rams called the Las Vegas Raiders and continued monitoring Crosby during the spring before ultimately getting the Garrett deal done. Pelissero reported that Garrett was not the only superstar edge the Raiders seriously considered, with Crosby sitting in that same conversation.

That matters because the . Albert Breer reported that Snead explored a possible deal for Crosby around the 2022 trade deadline while also pursuing Brian Burns. Neither move happened; however, the Rams clearly never stopped looking for a way to add another elite pass rusher.

of leaving the Raiders this spring. They agreed to send him to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks; however, the Ravens backed out after concerns surrounding the knee Crosby had surgically repaired in January, and he ultimately returned to the Raiders.

The Rams, meanwhile, waited on Garrett, and it eventually paid off. Los Angeles eventually acquired the two-time Defensive Player of the Year in a blockbuster deal with the Cleveland Browns. Garrett gives the Rams a proven superstar without the same immediate durability questions surrounding Crosby after his knee injury. Still, the fact that Crosby was considered says plenty about what the Rams wanted from its defense. They were not looking for a minor upgrade but were hunting for another defensive centerpiece.

Now they have Garrett, Aaron Donald, back in the mix, and a pass-rush group capable of making offensive coordinators miserable. Crosby never made it to the Rams, however, his name keeps popping up whenever Snead starts shopping at the top of the defensive market.

For the Raiders, that may be the part worth watching. however, if the Raiders stumble and become sellers before the trade deadline, the Rams could once again find themselves connected to No. 98.
