Max Verstappen is sending his Dutch Grand Prix farewell to the track wearing something far more ceremonial than his usual Red Bull colors.

The four-time Formula 1 champion unveiled his 2026 Zandvoort helmet on his official social media accounts Friday morning. Its caption read, “For my last home race. Dankjewel Zandvoort.”

Formula 1 has confirmed that the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix will be the 40th and final F1 event currently scheduled at Circuit Zandvoort after the event promoter opted not to continue beyond this season.

A Delft-Style Helmet for the Dutch GP Finale

The helmet shown in Verstappen’s post uses a white-and-navy visual theme that strongly resembles traditional Delftware, although neither Verstappen.com nor Red Bull Racing has officially identified the design by that name.

The front carries Oracle and Red Bull branding above and around the dark blue visor, while additional sponsor marks fill the lower sections. From above, the crownfeatures Verstappen’s familiar lion graphic in dark blue, surrounded by floral detailing. The side view brings the charging Red Bull into focus, with blue decoration continuing along the lower edge and rear of the shell. The attached images also show a translucent blue chin spoiler and clear crown vents.

It is a much quieter design than the orange-heavy helmet Verstappen used for his 2025 home race, but the choice makes sense. Blue-and-white ceramic styling gives the helmet a distinctly Dutch identity without turning it into another piece of orange merchandise. Subtlety is the name of the game with this one, apparently.

Verstappen has used Zandvoort helmets to celebrate personal and national themes before. Verstappen.com says his 2022 design honored his father, Jos, while the 2023 helmet referenced the Netherlands’ red, white, and blue flag. In 2025, Verstappen wore an Orange Lion helmet, along with matching footwear and headwear.

An iconic Grand Prix. Unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime

Zandvoort’s Last F1 Weekend Starts August 21

The 2026 Dutch Grand Prix is Round 12 of the championship, running from August 21 through August 23. The weekend includes a Sprint, with Sprint qualifying on Friday and the Sprint plus Grand Prix qualifying on Saturday.

Sunday’s race will cover 72 laps of the 4.259-kilometer circuit, for a distance of 306.587 kilometers. And it’s Lewis Hamilton who currently boasts the fastest time around the track, with a time of 1:11.097 on the modern layout.

With this being the last race at the circuit, for the time being at least, this helmet stands as a big celebration for the driver.

Formula 1 returned to Zandvoort in 2021 after a 36-year absence, and more than 1 million fans have attended since the comeback. The 2026 weekend is sold out, according to the event organizer.

Verstappen’s store has previously offered replica helmets in 1:2 and 1:4 sizes. Comparable 2026 Orange Lion models were listed at $204 and $91 respectively, on the official store, but no confirmed price or release details are available yet for this Zandvoort design.

The helmet will have one job when the cars take to the circuit: make the final Dutch Grand Prix look unmistakably like Verstappen’s race.
