MAROA, Ill. (WCIA) -- Maroa-Forsyth has done a lot of winning under head coach Josh Jostes, reaching the state finals 10 times since 2006. It's a winning culture that senior Caebrin Lee has seen all throughout his time in high school. While he's best known for his skills on the basketball court, scoring nearly 24 points per game for the Trojans last season, the 6-foot-4 athlete is set to make his varsity football debut at wide receiver. "Well, I've been considering it all four years; it's just been contemplating with my career with basketball, but, senior year, I just wanted to go out with a bang and just come out here and try to go far," Lee said. "We're excited about what he can do," Jostes said. "He is having to learn the game of football, but he has picked it up and he's probably a little ahead of schedule right now... he's bought into the standard, and I expect him to have a breakout season." Lee looks to catch passes from first-year starting quarterback Aiden Williams. The senior is grateful to be back on the field after missing all of his junior year due to a Pars Fracture in his spine during his sophomore season of track. "I just hope to be the guy," Williams said. "I feel like quarterback's the position that a lot of people fall back on or touch the ball pretty much every play, so I just want to be that guy for my teammates to move the ball around, but also just be a great teammate." These new pieces and more have been putting in the work towards the goal of getting back to state for a third-straight season. "Just because you put the Trojans on your chest or on your helmet doesn't entitle you to anything, and our kids have proved that again with their summer and their work," Jostes said. "This culture has been set up for longer than I've been alive, when Jostes got here," Williams said. "It's great to carry on this winning culture here. Our goal is always to go win a state championship." The Trojans begin that quest for their first state title since 2012 against New Berlin and first year head coach Robert Dunn.
