The Miami Marlins (62-61) look to respond to Friday’s shutout loss to the Cincinnati Reds (60-64) and regain ground in the National League standings.

Manager Clayton McCullough continues to adjust the infield and the lineup.

Probable Pitchers

Following Chase Burns’ dominant performance, Brady Singer will start on the mound. The 30-year-old righty has produced a 4.66 ERA and a 5-11 record in 119.2 innings (23 starts). Singer relies on five pitches:

- Sinker (48.3 percent)

- Slider (25.7 percent)

- Sweeper (16.1 percent)

- Cutter (7.2 percent)

- Four Seamer (2.6 percent)

Singer is below average in several statistical categories, including pitching run value (fourth percentile), fastball velocity (ninth percentile), chase rate (26th percentile), and strikeout rate (24th percentile). The seventh-year major leaguer is best at carving out ground balls (51st percentile).

Meanwhile, the Marlins have Ryan Gusto starting, who’s produced a 5.38 ERA and a 0-3 record in 49 innings (10 starts). He relies on seven pitches:

In the lineup, Griffin Conine returns to first base (batting fourth) and Graham Pauley will start at third (batting eighth). Utility player Javier Sanoja is available to come off the bench. Esteury Ruiz handles right field (batting ninth) and Owen Caissie serves as a designated hitter (batting sixth).

The Marlins had four hits in 30 at-bats on Friday, none reaching third. 

Shortstop and two-time All-Star Elly De La Cruz will leadoff for the Reds again. After going hitless in three at-bats on Friday, the 24-year-old seeks to get rolling offensively. Designated hitter Eugenio Suarez, who drove in the Reds’ only run, will bat fifth. In his last seven games, the 35-year-old is batting .250 with a .833 slugging percentage, including six hits in 24 at-bats, nine runs batted in, and four home runs.
