The 17-year-old joined the Etihad from Leicester City this summer in a £10 million (around $13 million) deal and went on to accompany the Blues' senior squad during their preseason tour of Asia. He had aspirations of impressing enough during preseason to remain with the first team and develop alongside the experienced players, similar to fellow winger Ryan McAidoo. Nevertheless, Monga hasn't featured in any of Enzo Maresca's Premier League matchday squads, and the Blues feel a move to the Swans, who currently lead the Championship, represents the optimal path for his progression, as per the Manchester Evening News.

However, all necessary documentation was submitted on time, with the announcement delay reportedly attributed to Swansea's fixture against Watford on Tuesday. Monga recorded seven Premier League appearances at just 15 years old, and followed that with 27 Championship appearances last season as he consistently featured for Leicester despite their difficulties. He attracted attention from numerous clubs this summer, including Arsenal, but ultimately turned down the Gunners to sign with City. During Manchester City's summer tour, the youngster opened up to the Manchester Evening News: "[Arsenal's interest] was very strong because it was very close to me going there. Very close. "The main decision was probably the pathway and the club itself. They've been so successful that it was a no-brainer when City calls. I feel like to me personally I see myself at City more.
