Manchester City Are Keen On Signing This Chelsea Midfielder: What Will He Add To Maresca’s Side?

In a recent report, The Athletic revealed that Manchester City are keen on signing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez this summer. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian club have been given a deadline until Friday to meet the West London club’s £120m valuation for the Argentine playmaker.

Fernandez’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Fernandez had a decent campaign at the West London club recently as he managed to put in a lot of influential displays for them in the middle of the park. The Argentine talent scored ten goals and secured four assists in 36 league matches for the Blues last season.

The 25-year-old is currently among the best central midfielders in Premier League football. Hence, it is no surprise that Man City are showing interest in acquiring his services this summer.

Fernandez’s current deal at Stamford Bridge will expire in 2032, so the Mancunian giants have no choice but to meet Chelsea’s demands if they want to sign him this off-season.

What Will Fernandez Add To Manchester City Boss Enzo Maresca’s Midfield?

Fernandez is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to make some crucial interceptions for his side in the middle of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and can shoot the ball with venom from long range.

The Argentine sensation has the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and is full of energy and running. Fernandez is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if required. He has a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Man City.

We can expect Fernandez to add more quality and depth to Enzo Maresca’s midfield. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Etihad Stadium next season.

At 25, Fernandez has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for Man City to consider in this transfer window. Thus, Maresca would be wise to go all out to recruit him before the end of this month.
