Mr. Bangarappa, who is also the Minister in-charge of the district, visited the hospital and reviewed the functioning of the cardiac care centre during his district tour. He interacted with the staff and teaching faculty, besides the patients.
K. Ramesh Babu, Dean of the Shivamogga Institute of Medical Sciences, informed the Minister that ₹6 crore was required to procure the pending equipment for the four modular operation theatres. He also highlighted the shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff.
Responding to the plea, the Minister said he would discuss the issue with Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister for Medical Education, and get the required funds released. He also instructed the hospital administration to ensure that patients visiting the cardiac care centre received necessary treatment and consultation at the earliest, without having to stand in queues for long.
Dr. S. Parameshwara of the Cardiology Department, cardiologist Dr. Mahesh Murthy, and others were present.

Toilet facility
Later, on the way to Esuru in Shikaripur taluk, the Minister paid a surprise visit to the high school wing of the Government Pre-University College at Ayanur in Shivamogga Rural taluk.He visited the classrooms, interacted with students and enquired whether they had received the shoes and socks provided by the government. He also sought students’ opinion on the quality of the shoes and socks they had received.
Interestingly, a girl student appealed to the Minister to fix toilet facility on the campus. The Minister, responding to the student’s plea, instructed the officials to resolve the problem and prioritise hygiene and toilet facilities. He also inspected the roof repair work at the school.
