LSU football tight end Trey'Dez Green reacts to earning No. 7 jersey

LSU football tight end Trey'Dez Green is one of two Tigers wearing the coveted No. 7 jersey in 2026. Last week, it was announced that Green and linebacker Whit Weeks would don the number in Lane Kiffin's first year as head coach. Green met with the media on Tuesday and talked about what the honor means to him. "It's been amazing, you know, by me being from the state of Louisiana, growing up, I always watched the number seven. I always wanted to be number seven. And it's just a blessing that the coaches and everybody who had a hand in that decision and picking my name is just amazing. Like I said, it's just a blessing," Green said. Green, who enters his junior year, emerged as one of the SEC's top tight ends in 2025. At 6-foot-7, he's a matchup nightmare for defenders. He's projected to be in the All-American conversation this fall as he takes center stage in Kiffin's offense. The No. 7 carries a special meaning at LSU. Several playmakers have worn it throughout the years, including Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, and Leonard Fournette.
