Liverpool's Premier League rivals ready to meet valuation for 50-goal star, terms have been agreed Throughout most of the summer transfer window, Liverpool have been linked with moves for several players. So far, three have been brought in which is obviously a step in the right direction but, it's still not enough for the Anfield outfit to come away with the title, or, it doesn't feel like it is anyway. Some other players are still expected to join Liverpool but at the moment, nothing is set in stone. However, for the Reds to make their much needed moves, some sales will also have to be made, especially since they've now ran out of non-homegrown spots among their ranks. This realisation has led to the rumour mill going into overdrive and now, it actually seems like one of the Reds' regular starters is on his way out of L4.

Cody Gakpo wants to leave Liverpool this summer Liverpool's performances last season were way off the mark. The Anfield outfit finished fifth in the Premier League, just a year after winning the title. Obviously, their lack of form was down to a lot of things but, one of their main problems was the performance levels of their first-team squad. The fact that Andoni Iraola has already admitted that Liverpool can't run for more than 30-minutes proves how bad things got under Arne Slot last term. The Dutchman also failed to play to the strengths of some players such as Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah which meant that there was a lot of pressure on other members of their squad. This pressure led to some players wanting to leave Liverpool and now, as per a fresh update from TEAMtalk, it seems like Gakpo wants to leave Liverpool as soon as possible with the attacker already agreeing terms with Tottenham.

"Cody Gakpo has made it clear to Liverpool that he wants to leave the club and join Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham Hotspur revolution, TEAMtalk can reveal. "We understand Gakpo’s representatives have already agreed personal terms in principle with Tottenham and have now taken the next step by speaking directly with Liverpool’s hierarchy to make the player’s position clear. "Gakpo has told the club that he does not see his long-term future at Anfield and wants the opportunity to move to Spurs. "The 27-year-old is fully aware of the competition for places at Liverpool, with Rio Ngumoha usurping the Dutchman in the pecking order on the left wing and Alexander Isak leading the line through the middle, even before Hugo Ekitike returns to full availability. "That has convinced Gakpo that his opportunities could become increasingly limited and he now wants a new challenge." Liverpool must only sell Cody Gakpo when they know that have a deal for Bradley Barcola lined up Admittedly, last season, it looked like Gakpo had passed his best. The attacker only seemed to be able to run down the by-line and then try to cut in onto his right foot so that he could try and get a shot on goal. However, with the way that Alexander Isak plays, he needs to be given opportunities by his teammates, rather than create them himself like someone such as Roberto Firmino would've done. Of course, inverted wingers can still work but, only if they're your main attacking output and, Gakpo was far from that last season. Despite this, Liverpool's depth in their attack is already fairly thin so, moving Gakpo on without having a deal for someone such as Bradley Barcola lined up would be stupid. At the moment, the Frenchman is the Reds' main target for their attack but, until Mika Godt's deal with the Parisians is confirmed, he won't be going anywhere. So, if Liverpool do end up selling him, no matter what, they must ensure that they have a replacement lined up because, as good as Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz are, it's clear that the Reds need another world-class attacker to join their ranks if they want to get back to the top. That is, especially now that Salah has left.
