Liverpool have confirmed a new kick-off time for one of their upcoming fixtures.

The Reds will host not one but two matches against Como on Sunday in their final couple of friendlies before commencing their Premier League season away to Newcastle the following weekend.

It’s the third summer in a row in which LFC will have played twice on the same day, having also done so with a double header against Athletic Bilbao last year, and welcoming Sevilla and Las Palmas to Anfield (with the latter behind closed doors) in 2024.

Liverpool confirm new kick-off time for Como friendly

On Thursday morning, Liverpool announced via their official website that the first of the two games this weekend has a new kick-off time.

The Reds had been scheduled to play a behind-closed-door fixture against Como at midday, but that has been brought forward by half an hour to 11:30am.

The second match (for which fans will be present at Anfield) remains a 6pm kick-off, and both games will be streamed live on All Red Video.

One last chance for Iraola to experiment with line-ups and tactics

As per Ian Doyle for the Liverpool Echo, Andoni Iraola is expected to field his strongest XI for the evening kick-off at Anfield on Sunday, with the behind-closed-door fixture at the AXA Training Centre ‘likely’ to be contested between ‘two second-string teams’.

For those involved in the morning clash, it’ll be one final opportunity to stake a claim for a place in the line-up when the Reds visit St James’ Park in the Premier League the following weekend.

Our expectation is that the team will consist of senior players hoping for greater recognition in 2026/27 (Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa) and talented youngsters seeking to make a further impression on Iraola (Trey Nyoni).

The two fixtures against Como provide the head coach with one last opportunity to experiment with team selection and tactics before his Liverpool reign begins in earnest at Newcastle a week later.

Hopefully the Reds can bank a pair of wins on Sunday and go into the new season on something of a high note after the defeats to Leeds and Monaco in the first few days of August.
