Leeds United have accepted Torino’s improved offer for their 28-year-old goalkeeper Lucas Perri after a late transfer tussle pushed the Italian club to increase their package.

Sport Witness, citing Tuesday’s print edition of Tuttosport, reports that Torino agreed a €1 million loan fee with a €14 million option to buy. Marseille briefly entered the race by offering European football, which pressured Torino into improving its financial terms. The goalkeeper had already given Torino his word, and the report says he was due to travel for his medical on Tuesday.
The proposed €15 million package gives Leeds United a capital gain. They signed the Brazilian from Lyon for €16 million last summer, while his current book value stands at about €12 million. The accepted deal therefore gives the Yorkshire club an accounting benefit despite the uncertain sporting outcome.
For Leeds United, the structure raises a fair question. The club accept uncertainty. Torino pay €1 million now, while Torino can decide whether to spend €14 million.
Perri’s 2025/26 league campaign gave mixed evidence. He made 16 Premier League appearances, conceded 29 goals and kept three clean sheets amid inconsistent form and injury. Against West Ham, he saved penalties from Jarrod Bowen and Pablo as Leeds won 4-2. The 28-year-old has Brazil call-ups behind him, while his 197cm frame and reflexes remain assets.

James Trafford changed the calculation. Leeds United paid £45 million, around €52 million, for the England goalkeeper, making him their record signing and leaving Perri surplus.
Perri’s distribution remains the concern. His passing accuracy sat near 53 per cent, and high presses punished that weakness. Serie A could offer a different test. Torino can use a tighter structure and emphasise his shot-stopping.
Leeds United carry the greater risk
Torino secure a 6’5″ keeper with top-flight experience, then let Ignazio Abate assess him. If Perri thrives, €14 million looks cheap. If his shaky form returns, Torino can return him next summer, leaving Leeds United with a weaker market asset.
That makes the deal a strong gamble for Torino. Leeds United collect only €1 million after paying €16 million last year, while the option remains non-obligatory. Clearing Perri’s wages makes sense, but Trafford’s arrival reduced Leeds’ leverage and gave Torino room to dictate terms. For Leeds United, this feels like damage control.
